Each year Andy’s Fund sponsors two campers for one week each at a BC Basketball Camp. Recently, we received notification of this year’s recipients as chosen by the BC camp administrators. We are pleased to see that Andrew’s spirit and love of sports will continue to live on and be a help to others. Thank you for helping to make this possible.
1)Dear Ginny (Andrew’s Mother)
My daughter MaryKate Golden is 10 years old and was just awarded your son Andrew’s BC basketball camp scholarship today. It is such a surprise and honor for my daughter and we just wanted to say thanks. Please know that we will keep Andrew and your family in our prayers. My mother died of cancer when I was 19, and I was a freshman at BC so I too know how important it is to fight this terrible disease.
My daughter Allison who is seven asked me about heaven recently and after my description she said I hope “Nana is having a rockin time in heaven” Well as you can imagine it made we laugh and I wondered if I had explained it right. Now every night my daughter says I hope Nana and all her friends are having fun in heaven and I know I did. We will now add Andrew as one of those friends.
Attached is a picture of my daughter MaryKate when she won the basketball championship this year. Her season started with 8 losses in a row and then her team went on to win the championship. She scored the winning free throw that put her team ahead to win the game. So as you can image after all the excitement of the season she can’t get enough of basketball, so BC camp was a big treat. I hope that my three children will follow in Andrew’s footsteps and attend BC, they already attend all the football games and as many basketball and hockey games as we can fit in between their own sports.
Thanks Again.
Joanie Golden Class of 93 (MaryKate’s mom)

Dear Friend,
I am very excited to start preparing for our 2nd annual Andrew C. Marsh Memorial Golf Tournament, dinner and silent auction. I am writing to you about a twofold purpose.
I have come up with an idea to honor those who have fought cancer or are fighting cancer in the form of a cookbook. I am hoping that you all have a story to share about one of these heroes in your life and a favorite recipe of theirs. Such as, for an example, a story about your grandmother. A little bit about who she is and her battle with cancer and a favorite recipe that you connect with her. I had thought about adding a photo but alas I am not that computer savvy (maybe someone out there is?) I would love to compile these stories and recipes and make a cookbook to be sold through www.andrewmarshfund.org and at the dinner and golf tournament…possibly in stores? Here again…help. 100% of the profits would go to cancer research with the first year going to the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research which awards cancer research grants to 38 states and the District of Columbia. The science learned from these grants are taken to cancer centers. Beating cancer is a primary goal.
You can either mail your stories and recipes to me at 21 Stevens Ave Portland, Maine 04102 or e-mail me at cmarsh1@maine.rr.com Please spread the word and pass this along to friends and family- everyone knows someone affected by this horrible disease –CANCER- We need to find a cure and do our part in finding it. When sending in your item if you would like to purchase a cookbook when it is finished give me an email address to notify you.
Secondly, if you know of anybody who can donate a service, item, trip etc…to our silent auction it would be greatly appreciated. All does NOT have to be from the state of Maine. We had some really wonderful items last year from artists ,a week stay on Hilton Head, tickets to a world class boxing event in New Jersey, beautiful jewelry from different states. All is greatly appreciated. We are still working on establishing scholarships in Andrew’s name at his alma maters. His high school- Cheverus High School, his college- Boston College, and his law school- Roger Williams University. By granting scholarships it enables young minds the opportunity to attend a school of their choosing. On top of that we have made substantial donations through the fund to the Melanoma Foundation of New England, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, the Jimmy V Foundation and Livestrong.
Please go to www.andrewmarshfund.org to get more information on Andy’s fund and also sponsorship opportunities that are available for the golf tournament.
Warmly,
Ginny Marsh (Andy’s Mom)
ps: Please note that the EarlyBird Registration for Golf has been extended til June 15th, 2011.
