A message from Andrew’s Mom

Dear Friend,
I am very excited to start preparing for our 2nd annual Andrew C. Marsh Memorial Golf Tournament, dinner and silent auction.  I am writing to you about a twofold purpose.
I have come up with an idea to honor those who have fought cancer or are fighting cancer in the form of a cookbook.  I am hoping that you all have a story to share about one of these heroes in your life and a favorite recipe of theirs. Such as, for an example, a story about your grandmother.  A little bit about who she is and her battle with cancer and a favorite recipe that you connect with her.   I had thought about adding a photo but alas I am not that computer savvy (maybe someone out there is?)  I would love to compile these stories and recipes and make a cookbook to be sold through www.andrewmarshfund.org  and at the dinner and golf tournament…possibly in stores?  Here again…help.   100% of the profits would go to cancer research with the first year going to the Jimmy V Foundation  for Cancer Research which awards cancer research grants to 38 states and the District of Columbia.  The science learned from these grants are taken to cancer centers. Beating cancer is a primary goal.
You can either mail your stories and recipes to me at 21 Stevens Ave Portland, Maine 04102 or e-mail me at cmarsh1@maine.rr.com  Please spread the word and pass this along to friends and family- everyone knows someone affected by this horrible disease –CANCER-    We need to find a cure and do our part in finding it.  When sending in your item if you would like to purchase a cookbook when it is finished give me an email address to notify you.
Secondly, if you know of anybody who can donate a service, item, trip etc…to our silent auction it would be greatly appreciated.  All does NOT have to be from the state of Maine.  We had some really wonderful items last year from artists ,a week stay on Hilton Head, tickets to a world class boxing event in New Jersey, beautiful jewelry from different states.  All is greatly appreciated.  We are still working on establishing scholarships in Andrew’s name at his alma maters.  His high school- Cheverus High School, his college- Boston College, and his law school- Roger Williams University.  By granting scholarships it enables young minds the opportunity to attend a school of their choosing.  On top of that we have made substantial donations through the fund to the Melanoma Foundation of New England, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, the Jimmy V Foundation and Livestrong.
Please go to www.andrewmarshfund.org to get more information on Andy’s fund and also sponsorship opportunities that are available for the golf tournament.
Warmly,
Ginny Marsh (Andy’s Mom)

ps: Please note that the EarlyBird Registration for Golf has been extended til June 15th, 2011.

Team Andy reigns in New Jersey

ZogSportsNJ organizes intramural sports leagues (Touch Football, Outdoor and Indoor Soccer, Volleyball, Kickball, Softball, Dodgeball, Basketball, Touch Rugby, Floor Hockey and Wiffle® Ball), trips, classes, clinics, social events and volunteer opportunities for young professionals. ZogSportsNJ donates a portion of all proceeds to charity and helps participants Play For Your Cause through charitable donations to each winning teams’ charity of choice. In seven years, ZogSports has over 75,000 people participating in their activities and has donated nearly $1,000,000 to charity.

This past winter a small group of friends, took advantage of Zogsports’ “Play for Your Cause”.and put  together to play a 7 a side co-ed soccer team.  The BC Representatives were Raj Thind, Regina Lauricella, and Christian Sison and were joined by a combination of friends and free agents.  After a long day of work, the team got together on Monday nights to go at it for 60 mins, followed by drinks at a local establishment.

After a rocky start to the season, “Top of the Table” pulled it together for the playoffs and defeated the 1st and 3rd place teams to secure its first ZogSports Championship for the Andrew C. Marsh Memorial Fund.   Although the majority of the team had only heard about Andy’s struggle through the website, they all unanimously agreed that this was the right charity to play for.  They look to take part in the Spring League and hopefully bring back another championship for the fund.

2010- Year in Review

Our Family wanted to thank everyone who has made Andrew’s Memorial Fund so successful in it’s first year.
The Fund was created to honor Andy’s wishes, spirit, generosity, and love.

Over the year, hundreds of you have contributed in very meaningful ways. You have participated in dozens of events including singing groups, marathons, golf, soccer, football tail-gates and teddy bear drives in Andy’s honor.
You have donated your time, talents, and monetary contributions so that the fund has been able to create scholarships at Andy’s schools: Cheverus High, Boston College, and Roger Williams Law School. We have also
sponsored children at basketball camps and students at Kairos Retreats. You have allowed us to contribute significantly to cancer research through various organizations including the Jimmy V foundation, Livestrong, Damon Runyon, and the Melanoma Foundation of New England.

We Thank You! We pledge to continue on in
Andy’s name. Our next major event is the golf and silent auction event on August 4th & 5th. Online registration is now open and we are looking auction items for this year’s auction. Please visit the following link for details:
